Historic Renovation

The house, built in 1907 was the home of a well known American artist.  Over the years, our clients have lovingly maintained and restored the house and property back to the original grand country cottage originally designed. This exceptional home was in need of an interior refresh.  Our clients hired and trusted us to update their interiors while respecting the significance and maintaining the historic properties of the home.  Along with our client, we redesigned the look and feel of the living room, dining room, Artist’s studio (family room), kitchen, first floor powder room, primary bedroom and bath, and laundry room.

Only two rooms, the powder room and the primary bath, were gutted and redesigned.  The other rooms in the home were untouched architecturally.  Working with a few existing furnishings and area rugs, we reimagined the interior.  We introduced a neutral palette for the walls and architectural moldings for much of the first floor. The original wood flooring was refinished and stained a rich brown color throughout the home.  The living room and dining room color schemes, although different, flow beautifully together. The Artist’s studio, is an amazing space with 12’-9” ceiling height, 12’ wide stone fireplace, rich oak paneling and columns, beamed ceiling and beautifully crafted full height windows on two sides of the room.  The studio opens up to a beautiful hidden stone walled garden with a fountain, stone patio and pergola.
